True Pedigree Supports Expansion of CBP Authentication Program to Additional U.S. Ports in Michigan

True Pedigree today announced the continued support and expansion of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Alliance of Gray Market and Counterfeit Abatement (AGMA) donation effort to support CBP’s frontline detection of counterfeit products entering the United States. Following the recent agreement between CBP and AGMA to expand the donation of the AGMA One Device to multiple ports of entry in Michigan, True Pedigree ensured expedient deployment of the devices and subsequent training of the CBP Officers at each port.

This training and expansion builds on the successful pilot deployment of the AGMA One Device platform at John F. Kennedy International Airport in
November 2025, as well as training of CBP’s Electronics Center of Excellence and Expertise (CEE) personnel in March 2026. Through True Pedigree’s continued support and improvement of the program, CBP is now utilizing One Device at 12 ports of entry in 8 states.

The AGMA One Device platform, donated to CBP through the agency’s Donations Acceptance Program, consolidates brand authentication tools from participating manufacturers into a single mobile device, providing assistance to CBP Officers in determining the authenticity of suspect products entering U.S. commerce.

True Pedigree provides the technological infrastructure for the platform, including its GenuScan authentication technology, which enables real-time product verification using manufacturer data without altering packaging, labeling, or manufacturing processes.

The initiative demonstrates ongoing collaboration among CBP, AGMA member  companies, and technology providers to address the growing scale and sophistication of counterfeit trade. According to CBP, the agency seized nearly 79 million counterfeit items in Fiscal Year 2025, with an estimated manufacturer’s suggested retail price of more than $7.3 billion had the goods been genuine.

“This program demonstrates how collaboration between government and industry can enhance enforcement capabilities without increasing operational complexity,” said Richard Nelson, co-founder and chief strategy officer at True Pedigree. “By supporting both training and practical authentication tools, this program helps CBP officers in their critical role of identifying dangerous counterfeit products imported into the United States, protecting consumers and legitimate manufacturers.”

AGMA, founded in 2001, is a nonprofit coalition of technology firms, distributors, and service providers dedicated to fighting counterfeiting and unauthorized distribution. Law firm Sideman & Bancroft LLP offered legal support for the AGMA One Device donation initiative.

Additional training and deployments are expected as the program expands, in coordination with CBP, AGMA, and participating rights holders.
